Opening Weekend for PLL TBall and Instructional League
April 26, 2010
The junior divisions of Parkway Little League opened up thier season with games that began on Friday Night under the lights at Praught Field, as the Instructional Giants faced off against the Astros. This weekend also saw the TBall Division get under way, highlighted by a great game betweeen the Chipmunks and Eagles.
One of the parents sent us this game summary and photos.
Edward Crane played a solid defensive catcher position. He made a couple of strong throws to first base. At the plate he was 3 for 4 with 4 hard hit ropes. Evan Tripp made some great grabs at second base and assisted on 2 put outs at first base. Evan showed some batting skills beyond his years at the plate as he slugged 2 hard line drives up the middle. Alex Tatten supplied some Chipmunks power from the plate with consistent hard hit balls. Alex also was very solid at first base with a couple of put outs. The Chipmunks had a great effort in their first game of the 2010 season against the tough Eagles team.
If you would like to send us pictures and a story from your youth sports please feel free to send them to us at parkwayboston@gmail.com.
A Great Day for a Parade!
April 17, 2010
Despite a chill in the air and some drizzle, the 2010 Parkway Little League season is off an running. Hundreds gathered across the Parkway to cheer on the boys and girls of Parkway Little League as they marched down Centre and Spring Sts. to the Guy Cammarata Complex on Baker Street.
The kids gathered on Bunker Field and were treated to a great rendition of the National Anthem, sung by West Roxbury’s Madison Sanders. The Little League oath was given by the White Sox Jack McCool, followed by speeches from league officials and local pols.
Mayor Menino was on hand to say a few words, as were State Rep Mike Rush, City Councilors Rob Consalvo and John Tobin. State Rep candidates Ed Coppinger, Paul Sullivan and Matt Bennedetti were also in attendance.
Councilor Tobin waxed nostolgic about his days as a Major Dodger, and congratulated the new PLL President, Jim Mulrey on a job well done.
There was a scheduled game at 1:30pm, but despite a valiant effort by the field crew, the games for the day had to be called. Either way it is “play ball” time in the Parkway.
