The Anatomy of a Run
November 30, 2008
I finally did it. I got off the couch and hit the pavement. I’m back on the horse that has bucked me off countless times. Yes, I’m finally running again.
My brother, Cousin Francis, informed me a few weeks ago that he was planning on running Walter’s Run on Sunday December 14th. As many of you know Walter’s Run starts and ends at the YMCA on Bellevue Street. Check out their website for the history of the run as well as sign up and race info: http://www.waltersrun.org/
It’s a 5K (3.1 miles) and having the illustrious running heritage that I do (my dad Big Al has run 27 marathons) I figured with a little bit of training I should be able to knock off a 5K. Read more

Forget The House Let’s Talk YARDS…Turkey Style
November 27, 2008
Can you believe the Holidays have begun? Where has this year gone? Snap. Blink. 2008 is almost over. Entering week 13 just brings testament to the time of year and how quickly the football season is flying by. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and there are three games – - Dallas and Detroit are the constant teams who traditionally play on Turkey Day each year. Now that there is a mid-season Thursday night game on the NFL Network, we have the enjoyment of football starting at 12:30 and ending late into the night. Aaah. Throw in a turkey leg and you’ve got a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Does it get any better than that?
Favre led the Jets to an outstanding 34-13 win over the Titans. As the seconds ticked down in the fourth quarter, the fans and players began to realize that there was no hope, and with an ear-splitting crash, the earth shattered and the city shook when the mighty Titans came toppling down. Poor Detroit. Tennessee will travel to Detroit as 11-point favorites during the first game of Thanksgiving – - and while homes across America fill with the delightful aroma of Turkey, Ham and all the fixings, the Titans will be taking their “perfect season destroyed” frustrations out on the sad and pitiful 0-11 Detroit Lions.
At 4:15; Dallas will host Seattle as 12.5-point home favorites and even if the Seahawks seem to have recently gotten something started on offense, I don’t think it will be enough for the attention hog Cowboys who historically on Turkey day, have come out on top by healthy margins. On January 6, 2007, during Romo’s first post-season debut, in a close 21-20 Wildcard match-up against the Seahawks, Romo botched the snap for the extra point and tie and then desperately scrambled for the end-zone…he came up short and lost the game for his team. That has definitely got to be one of Tony’s top three “most horrible moments” and I wonder if, for his own personal growth, he will try to forever erase the image from his memory with a blowout against the blasted Seahawks. Wolf or Coyote…You make the call!
November 24, 2008
I am not sure what it is but it is definitely not a dog. According to Jack Harrington, who sent us this photo from his camera phone, this “wolf” or “coyote”, was spotted on Weld St near the Arboretum, last weekend. The “wolf” looked little mad, (maybe because he found out about Kelleher’s closing for business). The animal stared at Jack, walked across the street. then jumped into the nearby woods. I will leave it up to you to decide who was more scared of who.
Let us know if you spot him, send us a picture!

Forget the house…Let’s talk YARDS!
November 23, 2008
Holy Cow! With seconds left on the clock, Moss made an incredible touchdown catch during last week’s Jet’s 34-31 overtime win in Foxboro. The loss was a tough one for our boys because they played their hearts out and Cassel really stepped up and threw some awesome passes. Did you happen to get a glimpse of Favre’s face when that aforementioned TD business went down? Total Shock. However, Brett didn’t choke. He followed through with his mistake-free game and got the win for his team in over-time.
In week 12, the Pats will travel to Miami as 2-point underdogs, to take on a Dolphin’s team who have worked themselves into a divisional tie with us. This should be a close, competitive game, as the Pats always seem to struggle, just a little, in Miami. If Cassel and Moss can connect the way they did on that last drive, maybe a little sooner in the game so it’s less dramatic; the Pats should be able to come away with the win. Desperate times take desperate measures. Read more
