Well it is almost 2010 can you believe it? The decade of the 00′s went by so fast that it is hard to believe what has happened over the past 10 years. From September 11th to the Gulf War & Afghanistan, from George Bush to Barack Obama, from Loserville to a Decade of Dominance in Boston sports. It makes you wonder what the next 10 years will bring.
When the decade began no one ever heard of Facebook or Twitter. Texting was primitive at best, and difficult. ParkwayBoston wasn’t even a word and most people still read the newspaper.
In 1999, “Wait til next year” was the expression most spoken when referring to Boston sports, since then the Red Sox won 2 World Championships, the Patriots have 3 Super Bowls, and the Celtics raised banner 17. Even the Bruins have been making a go of it lately.
Ten years ago Theo Epstein had just graduated from law school, Tom Brady was getting ready to lead Michigan in an Orange Bowl Victory, Coach Bill was a Defensive Coordinator in New York and Rondo had just started high school.
Here we are at the dawn of a new decade and it will be interesting to see what will be different. Will the print media become obsolete? Will tweeting become a fad, or the norm? Will there be a Middle Eastern Perestroika? Will the US be hit again? Will the Bruins win the Cup? Will there be a new Mayor in Boston?

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is prepared because ready or not, here it is. Christmas is here. Yikes. Doesn’t it seem like it was just Thanksgiving yesterday? Time flies man, especially during football season.
We are entering week 16 of the regular season and will be saying goodbye to a slew of teams after week 17 as only the playoff teams will be partaking from January 3rd on. Another season is almost over…Sniff.
Last week the Patriots went to Buffalo and won 17-10. NE was leading 17-3 most of the game but with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter, Bill’s QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed Lee Evans an 11-yard touchdown bringing Buffalo to within 7-points; AND Buffalo recovered the on-side kick only to give it up because of an offensive penalty. (AP) – 12/21/2009 -Police say a frustrated Boston woman called 911 to say she couldn’t get her 14-year-old son to stop playing video games and go to sleep. Police spokesman Officer Joe Zanoli said Monday the mother called for help around 2:30 a.m. Saturday to say that the teenager also walked around the house and turned on all the lights.
Two officers who responded to the house persuaded the child to obey his mother.
Zanoli says the mother’s 911 call over video game obsession “was a little unusual, but by no means is it surprising — especially in today’s day and age when these kids play video games and computer games.”
The Boston Herald first reported the 911 call, saying the boy was playing the popular “Grand Theft Auto” game
Free Hockey at Fenway

Can’t get a ticket into the game of the year? Don’t fret. You can still see great hockey at Fenway Park. On Wednesday, January 6th at 10:15am, the Boston Police Department Emerald Society Hockey Team will face off against the Philadelphia Police Department Hockey Team. For those of you who have not seen the BPD Hockey team in action, you don’t know what you are missing, as most of the team consists of former Division 1 NCAA alumni.
Come on by to this free, once in a lifetime event event at Fenway and cheer on the Boys in Blue.
Mike Rush Mulling Run For Senate

Wicked Local West Roxbury is reporting that an advisor to State Rep Mike Rush is planning to run for State Senate next year regardless of whether Senator Marian Walsh runs for re-election or not. They also point out that Rep. Rush is neither confirming nor denying the report.
Rush has opened a constituent service office on Centre Street in the past month.
Senator Walsh has had quite an interesting year and a half. We have quite a few stories on her looking for another job, accepting a job, backing out of said job, and listing her home for sale.

Last week, the home team won in Foxboro against Carolina 20-10, although it wasn’t pretty. The Panther’s QB, Jake Delhomme was out of the game with a broken finger and was replaced by Matt Moore who did a good job, or so it seemed; it is possible that it just looked that way because the Pats weren’t playing as well as usual. New England struggled with getting points on the board and a pair of fumbles and an interception didn’t help, but in the end they managed to get the job done. Tom Brady is a new daddy and although present, could be very tired.

Boston Latin Makes The Grade Again

Boston Latin School was recently named the 38th best high school in the country according to U.S. News and World Report. 38th Place earned BLS a Gold Medal from the publication.
According to Head Master Lynne Mooney Teta (Class of 1986):
U.S. News & World Report has recognized the Boston Latin School as one of the very best public high schools in the United States. BLS is one of only two New England schools to have received the prestigious “gold medal” every year since the ranking’s inception. Out of nearly 22,000 high schools, BLS ranked #38 this year. Among schools in large urban school systems, those with fewer resources than suburban districts, BLS places among the top 10 in the nation.
