Senator Walsh Decides to Step Down
January 27, 2010
Below is a letter from Senator Marian Walsh Announcing her decision not to run for re-election.
Dear Friends, Soon the campaign season will be upon us and the voters and candidates alike will be engaged in a very important civic exercise. As your State Senator and friend I wish that it were possible to convey my gratitude to you personally. Since 1989, the shared sacrifices of my supporters, staff, family, friends and husband have made my public service possible and worthwhile. Politics and all the good that it can do has certainly been an important part of my life. From our campaigns, to our neighborhood meetings, to the legislative caucuses, to the floor debates – the positive energy and successful outcomes are too many to list. Entering public life, for me was a profoundly personal decision. I have loved it because I have been in your service. Your hopes and dreams have been my fuel, whether it be a community concern, a civil right, or a matter of economic and social justice. It is time now for me to contribute in other ways – outside of elective office. Next fall, I will not stand for reelection to the Massachusetts State Senate for the Suffolk and Norfolk District. I do intend to be of service in other venues, and I look forward to the next chapter with excitement and gratitude. With the deepest appreciation, I remain at your service.
Very truly, Marian
Matt Benedetti is Running for State Rep
January 27, 2010
Press Release From Matt Benedetti:
I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family, my friends, and my neighbors talking about what’s next for me. I am encouraged by what I am hearing and plan to run for State Representative of the Tenth Suffolk District. I expect that my candidacy will provide a good opportunity to discuss what I feel is important to our neighborhoods and how to best represent the district.
As a member of the Massachusetts National Guard, I am proud to serve the commonwealth. I am always looking for opportunities for greater service and it would be an honor to represent our community in the legislature.
As a former legislative aide on the Boston City Council, I recognize the importance of effective constituent services.
My wife Kathleen, a nurse at Children’s Hospital, and I are looking forward to the campaign.
Over the coming months, I will be focused on the one thing that I believe is most important-speaking to as many voters as I can and asking for their vote.

Forget the House, Let’s Talk Yards…Playoff Style!
January 23, 2010
Wow. I expected ALL of the rested home favorites to win last week, and although most of them did – - those blasted Chargers were thwarted by the lithe, tricky men in awful dark green. For the second week in a row, the Jets shocked the nation when they traveled to San Diego to take on the Chargers as 8.5-point underdogs and won outright 17-14. How do they keep beating superior teams? What is wrong with the Chargers to allow that kind of choke-dome to overcome them? Norv Turner is a wimp; San Diego should have gone for it a couple of times on 4th and short and instead they went and missed field goal opportunities. Phillip Rivers is a franchise quarterback. He is also incapable of utilizing the play clock productively and inept in come from behind situations. For crying out loud, this was a PLAYOFF game people! As long as conservative (being nice) Norv Turner is calling the shots, the Chargers will choke when it means the most…like last week. Read more
