Worst City of Boston Cancellation!

Remember as a kid how good it felt when school was cancelled because of snow. You could sleep in late, go outside if you felt like it, or just lounge around all day in your pajamas. Because of a press release by the City of Boston, I have the opposite feelings and it has nothing to do with school.
My Monday trash has been cancelled. I could understand if they were coming tomorrow and pick it up but that is not their plan. They won’t be in my West Roxbury neighborhood again until next Monday.
The press release read:
Today’s declared snow emergency and parking ban that was in effect starting at 10PM Sunday, March 1 will officially end at 4:00 p.m. today, Monday, March 2.
Monday rubbish and recycling collections are CANCELLED, and will occur on the next scheduled collection day
Residents with storm-related questions or concerns can call the Mayor’s 24 Hour hotline at 617-635-4500.
And will “occur on your next scheduled collection day”? Not knowing what they meant, I called the Mayor’s hotline. The person answering the phone told me that “that is the plan, it does not make any sense, and if you are annoyed I don’t blame you.” Wow, that phone call made me feel better.
I brought my trash out nice and early last night before the heavy snow fell. Now I have to figure out a way to bring it in the backyard. And, I’ll probably need to buy another trash barrel.

I can understand why you are annoyed, and they don’t usually cancel trash pickup, but they did announce it the same time they announced the snow emergency yesterday.
I’m thinking you can just drag them back into the yard, same way you would have if they had been emptied today.
An odd move on the city’s part, they usually just push it back a day right. Not the end of the world, but a little strange.
