It’s Councillor O’Malley!!
November 17, 2010
In a larger than expected voter turnout, the voters of District 6 (West Roxbury, Roslindale and Jamaica Plain), elected Matt O’Malley of Jamaica Plain (and Roslindale) to take the council seat vacated by John Tobin. Matt, 31, a native of Roslindale and Boston Latin graduate, beat out James Hennigan of West Roxbury.
Last night, Matt thanked his supporters on a hard fought victory and thanked the voters for being so engaged in the political process. Matt told a packed house at the Milky Way Lounge in JP, that he was very humbled and was looking forward to getting to work. O’Malley said he was proud of the positive race that they ran and thanked his opponent, Hennigan, for a well fought race.
Hennigan thanked his supporters and family saying he was looking forward to getting some rest, then getting right back to work on his Salvation Army bucket campaign that he has been organizing for years. Hennigan also thanked Matt and wished him the best.
Matt will be sworn in to office in the next couple of weeks and will get right to work soon after.
Congratulations to Councillor O’Malley.
