Recycled Story
October 14, 2008
When these recycling bins first came out I wondered what the hell am I going to do with this monstrosity. The CITY seemed to be giving us our very own dumspster on wheels. We wrote about the delivery of the new bins and wondered how could we possibly fill these mammoths? At that time, it seemed the best use for the bin was to place Julio Lugo in there. He helped us out with that problem when he went on the DL. We didn’t have to cross that line thankfully.
But within two weeks of using the bin I came to realize that I wasn’t recycling much at all with the old, small bins. My new dumpster was full or near full every week. Walking and driving around town I noticed everyone seemed to be recycling more. Everyone’s barrel seemed to be filled to capacity.
Looking back I see why I didn’t recycle more. The old bins didn’t fit too much. Three days after trash pickup the bin was full so the rest of my recyclables went in the trash. We slam the City when they screw up so I guess it’s only fair to congratulate them when they do something right.
Let us know if you are recycling more with the new bins?

Got something to say?

I agree with you with the recycling. I still only have the little blue bin and am barely recycling. Yet, I know I could be doing alot more but the bins have not been distributed to my street as of yet. Do you have any idea when Lindall Street will be getting the bins?
Hi James,
I have a call into the ciity so I should have an answer Thursday.
Great to hear this, Ed. The city has done well here.
